3. Housing opens for Diamond members Monday, May 21
Exhibitor housing opens this month so it’s time to start thinking about your hotel needs for HIMSS08 in Orlando. As you may already know, convention centers allocate exhibit space to shows based on the amount of hotel rooms picked up. Convention center management may and often will reject or reduce exhibit space requests to show organizers because hotel rooms are not filled proportionately through the housing block. To ensure that our hotel block is full and that we receive the needed exhibit floor space at the convention center for you, ALL EXHIBITORS are required to book their housing through the HIMSS official housing company.
Housing will open to exhibitors in this order*:
- Diamond corporate members in exhibitor priority point order: Monday, May 21
- Platinum corporate members in exhibitor priority point order: Monday, June 11
- Gold corporate members in exhibitor priority point order: Monday, June 25
- All remaining exhibitors beginning: Monday, July 30 (Ambassadors does not call you)

A representative from Ambassadors, HIMSS' official housing company, will contact all corporate members to assist in arranging your housing block. Corporate members will be contacted in exhibitor priority point order starting on the date stated above. If you have not heard from an Ambassadors representative by the Friday of the above week, please contact then at (877) 517-3038. Any exhibitor who does not go through HIMSS' official housing block will not be permitted to exhibit and will forfeit all monies paid.
Please Note: Exhibiting companies that are not a Corporate Member will need to contact Ambassadors on or after July 30 to make hotel arrangements

5. Promoting CPHIMS Certification at your Organization
HIMSS has developed the following information to help you coordinate the CPHIMS certification effort within your organization. Help your colleagues make a solid investment in their careers by encouraging them to become certified. If, after reviewing the materials and information provided, you have additional questions or have other promotional and recognition ideas that your organization is undertaking that you would like to share with us, please let us know by sending an email to certification@himss.org.
HIMSS exhibitors are an integral part of the overall promotion of CPHIMS to members. Here are some ways HIMSS exhibitors can market CPHIMS to non-certified employees and clients.
Conduct presentations on the certification process either by a CPHIMS certified employee or contact HIMSS for a speaker. HIMSS makes available a variety of materials.
- CPHIMS Candidate Handbook – Contains everything you need to sign up for the exam. The Handbook can be downloaded from the HIMSS web site. You may also request copies by writing us at certification@himss.org or calling (312) 915-9216.
- CPHIMS Brochure – Your organization can request copies of the CPHIMS Brochure. This informative brochure includes an overview of the CPHIMS credential. You may also request copies by writing us at certification@himss.org or calling (312) 915-9216.
- CPHIMS Overview Presentation – Provides an introduction to CPHIMS. Discusses eligibility, application process and suggestions for studying. You may request the most up-to-date presentation by writing us at certification@himss.org or calling (312) 915-9216.
Consider hosting a special administration of the CPHIMS exam – HIMSS exhibitors may host the CPHIMS exam, provided all requirements are met and appropriate fees paid. If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, please review the ‘Exam Host Application’ located on the HIMSS web site to ensure that you are aware of all the responsibilities and fees involved and then submit the hosting application.
Be sure to have your educational programs approved for CPHIMS contact hours by submitting your agenda to HIMSS along with the application found on the HIMSS web site. By connecting your employee educational programs with HIMSS continuing education, you offer attendees the opportunity to achieve their renewal goals.
Be sure to recognize employees and clients who receive their CPHIMS certification.
- Publicize your organization’s CPHIMS-certified members (names, photos) on your web site or newsletter. Contact certification@himss.org to receive a list of members in your organization who are certified.
- Publish stories about certified employees on your web site or newsletter. Be sure to submit your story to HIMSS to utilize in HIMSS Insider or on the HIMSS web site.
- Send a congratulatory letter from the “boss” to each CPHIMS certified employee in your organization.
- Host a luncheon, dinner, or other social event to honor CPHIMS certified members.
- Send press released to local newspapers about employees that attain or renew their CPHIMS certification.
