General Session Speakers

Sunday Opening Keynote Speaker – Dennis Quaid
Dennis Quaid will open the conference on Sunday, April 5, with his presentation, “Dennis Quaid and the Quaid Foundation Story.” Quaid, and his wife Kimberly, started their foundation to promote patient safety after their twins, Thomas and Zoe, received an overdose of the blood thinner Heparin while in the hospital recovering from an infection. The twins were born on Nov. 8, 2007, at St John's Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif. As an actor, Quaid has been honored by the New York Film Critics Circle and The Independent Spirits Awards as “Best Supporting Actor of the Year” and also garnered nominations for a Golden Globe Award and Screen Actor’s Guild Award for the critically acclaimed 2002 film, Far From Heaven.

Kaiser Permanente is the nation’s largest nonprofit health plan, serving more than 8.7 million members. Widely credited with supporting the successful rollout of Kaiser’s multi-billion dollar information technology initiative, Mr. Halvorson has won numerous awards for his commitment to health technology, including the Modern Healthcare CEO IT Achievement Award.
